Set of 8 Grist Mill Ground Limestone Marbles (circa mid 1800s – Germany). These started off as hand-hewn cubes of limestone that were ground round by large opposing water-driven wheels that turned large stone grinding wheels with circular grooves. Sedimentation lines of the natural stone and even an original cube surface. An unusual piece of history.
