RARE Naked 4-Ribbon Divided Core Swirl in RED GLASS! Red glass is exceedingly rare because it required real gold to make the color – it became too expensive to produce, so very few were. You can actually see the little gold flakes of color in the glass. There are no outer lines or ribbons which are typically present in swirls…therefore it has the esteemed designation as a “Naked” swirl, another element of rarity that elevates value. These red glass swirls were brittle and became damaged very easily. Original surface in NM condition. Early faceted pontil dates this rare gem to before 1880.
